Frequently Asked Questions
instinfo transcribes audio in real-time. Then, whenever you press "Enter", it uses the most recent transcript to predict the information that you need, and then it gives it to you in an easy-to-understand manner.
The easiest way is to just press "Enter" anytime you want more information. This will show you relevant information based on whatever was just said. Should you want more control, you can type a query into the search bar to guide the recommendation, and then press "Enter". You can type anything from a full question to a simple word or phrase (e.g., "why" or "applications"). Whatever you type will be combined with whatever was said to refine your information need.
Each recommendation has a list of recommended search queries at the bottom. Clicking any of these will trigger a web search, and you will get a list of websites that are relevant to the clicked query. If you would like to search your own query, you can use the search bar at the top to search the web by adding a prefix "!w" to the query.
Often, many presentations are about content contained in published papers or textbooks. So, we provide the ability to add these resources so that the recommended information becomes grounded in the PDF content during the session. Moreover, any recommendation will provide a location in the PDF, so that you can find the most relevant section without any additional effort.
Yes - you can delete created sessions. This will permanently delete the transcriptions and recommendations for that session.
With instinfo, multiple people can join a session if the creator of the session shares the session ID. In presentation mode, only the audio from the session owner is transcribed and processed - all other members of the session are forced to be muted. This is useful in places like classrooms where you only want to capture the audio from the presenter (i.e., the teacher). In community mode, all members of a session can unmute and speak if they like.
